No it certainly does not sound like it, but at M Restaurant in downtown Columbus, OH (2 Miranova Pl, Columbus, OH 43215), the “Steak in a bowl” is described not only as one of the signature dishes, but as a decadent gourmet dish.
And indeed it is. It is described by the restaurant as “an interesting concept that is on the cusp of something special ($36 – $41). The bowl is replete with roasted fingerling potato coins and blue cheese that nicely melts into a sumptuous truffle veal stock.” The steak is butter poached, and served with scalloped potatoes in a truffle jus, and three of the four of us had it this evening at the recommendation of our server. And three empty plates went back to the kitchen at the end of the course.
So while I did not fall in love with the dish’s name, I certainly thought it was a 5-star dish.
