White Oak Kitchen – Atlanta, GA

It is billed as Southern cuisine, but is a really fresh and modern take that yields fresh and inspiring dishes.

For example, the Pimento Cheese (Sharp white cheddar, fried green tomatoes, strawberry jam for $9) is not only stunning to look at, but has unique pairings that I’d not think to combine (picture below).

And I am not normally someone that would order grits, but theirs is stunning – it is baked, with braised wild mushrooms, young bleu cheese for $12 – pictured below).

I have enjoyed both steak and fish here, but it really is some of the unique appetizers that have had me impressed. The restaurant is stylish and fun, and I do make a point of visiting each time I am in the neighborhood.
